Mulberry Academy Shoreditch’s Results Soar to New Heights

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAs students from across the country celebrate their GCSE results, one school in Tower Hamlets is confident that their students will be delighted with the outcome of the day.

Mulberry Academy Shoreditch has once again validated its outstanding status with a phenomenal headline result of 88% of students achieving 5+ A*-C grades including English and Maths. As the national picture continues to emerge for 2015, this places the Academy a staggering 35% points and 28% points above the 2014 national and local averages. This impressive performance is likely to secure their position at the top of the Tower Hamlets league table and place them on a national platform of outstanding schools across the country.

Headlines (provisional data):

  • 88% of students achieved 5+A*-C inc. English & Maths (2014 – 80%)
  • 99% of students achieved 5+A*-G (2014- 92%)
  • 28% of students achieved 3A*-A (2014 – 19%)
  • 43% of students achieved EBACC (2014 – 36%)
  • 91% of students achieved A*-C English (65.4% nationally)
  • 95% of students achieved A*-C Maths (63.3% nationally)
  • 100% A*-C grades in 22 subjects

In addition to the headline figure, 28% of students receiving their results today will be thrilled to discover they have achieved 3+ A* and A grades and 43% have secured the academic EBACC pathway, another result well above the national average.

The context of such success makes Mulberry Academy Shoreditch’s results even more admirable. The levels of progress that have been achieved by students since joining the academy are exceptional, with 23% making 5 levels of progress in Maths and 53% of students making 4 levels of progress in English.

This celebratory mood follows last week’s A Level results which saw 97% of Bethnal Green’s Sixth Form students securing passes for their post 16 courses. There were further stories of exceptional achievement here too with a staggering 39% of students obtaining the coveted A*-B grades this year; qualifications that will undoubtedly support their future employability as over 90% of students secured their places at university.

Mark Keary, Principal and Chief Executive Officer, commented: “I am very proud of today’s excellent GCSE results and all our students who have worked so hard to achieve these impressive grades. Our headline figure puts us against some of the most successful schools in the country and demonstrates the outstanding talent, commitment and ambition that is fostered here at Mulberry Academy Shoreditch. I would like to thank all staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure our students realise and exceed their potential and make these phenomenal levels of progress. I would also like to thank our students, parents and governors for their ongoing support of the Academy. We are confident that Mulberry Academy Shoreditch will continue to offer the exceptional quality of education that has been proven by these results.”
