24 Maths Tournament comes to MAS

On Wednesday 12th July 2017, students from Year 8, 9 and 10 competed in a 24 Maths tournament.  This is a quick witted fast paced game in which students compete to see who can make the number 24 by using four different numbers and the four operations. Students had 15 minutes in which to get as many correct calculations as possible.  With support from across the school (but especially from the last minute wonder judge Mr Bale) the competition was fast paced and extremely close.

Ultimately Year 9 were the winning team with Year 8 in a close second place. The best overall performers were all from Year 9 with Nora Al Morhiby taking top spot by impressively winning all of her matches. Year 9 filled out the remaining top spots with Jamila Zahra, Jawad Bakar, and Xiaochuan (George) Che finishing in joint second and Inaya Yasmin finishing 3rd overall.

It is important to note that the students who were part of the count on us team that reached the finals also took three of the top five places which is phenomenal.

An extremely amazing effort from the students who all took part.
