Empowering Futures: Year 12 Students at We Can Be

On 26th February, Ms Taylor and Mrs Morgan Black had the privilege of taking 16 of our Year 12 students to the We Can Be event, an initiative by the Lord Mayor’s Appeal designed to inspire young women to explore careers in the City of London. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to engage with successful women, broaden their understanding of financial careers, and gain invaluable insight into their own futures.

The day began at Rabobank, a co-operative bank in the City of London, where students met women in a variety of roles, from HR to financial crime compliance and data protection. Listening to their career journeys and advice was eye-opening for the students, many of whom hadn’t previously considered finance as a career path.

The afternoon was held at Guildhall, where we were hosted by CEO Dr. Joanna. She spoke about her own journey to leadership, offering inspiration and encouragement to the students. A panel of accomplished women then shared their experiences, answering insightful questions from the students. The day ended with a hands-on investment challenge, where the students worked in teams to make strategic financial decisions, an engaging and practical way to apply what they had learned. It was a fantastic day and our students left feeling confident and ambitious about their futures.
