Letter to Sixth Form students

Wednesday 22nd April 2020

Dear students,

I really hope that you managed to have a restful break over the Easter holiday period and that you and your families are well. I know now must be a very challenging and confusing time and you may be anxious about examination results. I wanted to assure you that the Academy will guarantee your place at the sixth form and support you in the Academic and future career path. We will have a results day where we will support you in final subject choices, the date will follow as soon as we have further information.

We are still keeping very busy even if the school gates are shut. Currently the timetable for next year is being put together to enable all subject choices to run. Heads of House are busy putting together a programme of activities which will involve Year 12 in more student leadership and sporting activities.

The sixth team have also been busy creating virtual resources to support you with future career aims. There are two new google classrooms with materials to support those of you who are considering Oxford, Cambridge, medicine and careers in the law in the future. Please send me an email if you are interested in joining these groups and follow our Year 12 2020 google class group which has daily career and academic resources. On this page there is a link to all the transition materials and we will update these regularly.

Although you will be missing one another, we are certain that September is going to be a really exciting time for you all. The year will begin with our University and Thorpe park trip and of course the Prom to follow in November. There will be a specific transition period supporting you will any gaps in your learning. Our Wednesday afternoon slot devoted to enrichment will have a host of courses and qualifications including KPMG mentoring, sports, languages, arts and skills such as sign language.

We will be contacting you personally over the next couple of weeks to see how you are getting on and support you with the transition process to sixth form. Do not hesitate to get in contact at anytime if you have any further questions.

All the best Ms Wallace
