Classical music to our ears!

On Thursday 20th September, the academy was dazzled by a trio of string players from the London Schools Symphony Orchestra (LSSO).  As students and staff arrived, the musicians performed Movement 3 from Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik composition in our dedicated performance space in The Street.   Movement 3 is a prepared extract that students are required to analyse and appraise as part of their GCSE Music course.

The extravagant start to the morning did not stop there!  During their assembly, Year 8 students were also treated to Cannon in D by Johann Pachelbel, which is a piece the students are currently learning this half-term.

For many of our new students, it was the first time they had been so close to a live, classical music performance.  It was also a fantastic experience for GCSE Music students to see a live performance of a piece that they have only listened to.
