Brilliant Club Partnership

Mulberry Academy Shoreditch have established a partnership with the Brilliant Club, an organisation which aspires to increase the number of students from lower income backgrounds going to top selective universities. Twelve of our more able Year 8 students will be participating on the first Scholars Programme where they work on a STEM project with a PhD tutor. They will take part in university style tutorials and will submit a final project in July 2017. This will be graded using university grading. The project is aimed to stretch and challenge the students and is pitched at one key stage above their current key stage. Students will also have the opportunity to visit two different Russell Group universities as part of this project.  One visit will be where the project will be launched and the second visit is when they will graduate from the programme.

On Thursday 18th May 2017, Andrew Fleming will visit the academy to meet parents/carers and students who have been selected to take part in the above programme. He will be providing students with more information about the programme, their involvement and the exciting opportunities it will lead to. The project is set to launch on 12th June 2017 when teachers will be accompanying the students to the University of Sussex, where they will meet their PhD tutor and begin the programme.

We are looking forward to the work the students will produce and the exciting new opportunities they will be given. Equally, we are looking forward to continuing to work with the Brilliant Club on future projects.
