Mulberry Academy Shoreditch scoops £100,000 prize at 2015 Pupil Premium Awards

Mulberry Academy Shoreditch is delighted to announce that it has secured the prize of £100,000 at the 2015 Pupil Premium Awards, after being named a National Finalist and Key Stage 4 London Region winner. Following on from being awarded £5,000 in the preliminary stages of the awards earlier this year, the academy received the prize in recognition of the exceptional outcomes it continues to achieve for its students.

In another personal letter to the academy, Minister of State for Schools David Laws MP commended MAS for its latest success, complimenting the leadership team and staff for the exceptionally high standards they set for their students. Representatives from the academy attended a prestigious ceremony at Drapers’ Hall in London on 25 March, alongside Mr Laws and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, where they collected the prize and received praise for the academy’s achievements.

Mr Laws commented: “This is an extraordinary achievement. The judges, Sir John Dunford, Sir William Atkinson and Jane Lees tell me that your school excels in educating disadvantaged pupils and improving their outcomes. It is clear that you, your staff and governors are equipping your pupils with the skills for future success.”

Mark Keary, Principal of Mulberry Academy Shoreditch, added: “Staff at Mulberry Academy Shoreditch are extremely proud of this latest award. Being named as the London Region winner in the Key Stage 4 category is recognition of the journey we have made over the past few years. It is a key indicator of the high expectations we have of every student, regardless of their background or starting point.”
