Mulberry Academy Shoreditch is thrilled to announce its reaccreditation from three prestigious organisations: The Prince’s Teaching Institute (PTI), the British Council International School Awards (ISA) and the Mayor’s London Schools Gold Club.

For the second year running, the PTI has awarded the academy with the Schools Leadership Mark for its dedication to student entitlement to art, culture, sports and social action. The programme is aimed at encouraging schools to consider whole-school approaches to leadership, staffing and the curriculum within these areas. This helps to develop the quality, rigour and challenge experienced by students of all abilities and backgrounds. To participate, the academy also devised an action-based research project, focusing on arts, culture, sports and social action.

The student entitlement programme has been applied through a series of workshops, fundraising events, school trips (local, national and international), school based events and volunteering activities, as well as a number of social action projects throughout the year. These have ranged from fashion shows and Winter Fayres, to Women in Leadership workshops and political simulation conferences, and language based trips to Berlin and Pompeii, all offering students a wealth of opportunities to develop their leadership skills.

As part of the leadership opportunities available to students, the academy works with a number of international partner schools. This has been recognised by the International School Awards; an honourable accreditation for those schools which show outstanding work in international education. The British Council has continued to be impressed by the academy’s commitment and understanding. The creativity and imagination behind these initiatives has secured reaccreditation for the next three years, during which time the academy will continue to strengthen its relationships with its partner schools across the globe. These partnerships include schools in France, Germany and Finland and allow students to experience a range of cultures through shared projects and visits.

To further highlight the successes recognised by the PTI and the ISA, Mulberry Academy Shoreditch has also been offered membership in the Mayor’s London Schools Gold Club for another year. This is an annual scheme, which aims to celebrate and share best practice between schools. The club offers membership to schools which show excellent attainment and achievement. Following a highly successful year, with its best ever GCSE results and vast enrichment programme, the academy is delighted to be a part of the Gold Club for a second year.

These coveted accreditations are a result of the hard work, dedication and ambition of the staff, students and families at Bethnal Green, and the academy would like to thank all those involved for such a fantastic year of achievement.
