Starting on December 1st 2019, our annual WinterFest was, as always, packed with fundraising activities, performances and competitions. Our chosen charities were First Love Foundation (Tower Hamlets Foodbank), and local community hub St Hilda’s East. The fun kicked off with a staff football tournament. Players were cheered on by students and staff and everyone enjoyed the match!

The Foodbank campaign was a big success too, with a competition between houses to collect the most non-perishable items. Generous students and staff brought in food donations that created a mountain of over 4000 items to help local families struggling over the winter. There was a week of House bake sales, with Barbican raising the most money and of course the highlight of WinterFest, the Winter Fair on Tuesday 10th December. The Street was bustling with students and their families who bought food, gifts and raffle tickets. There were some amazing raffle prizes won and everyone had a wonderful time.

Our school concert was magical on Wednesday 11th December 2019. Our new choir sang their hearts out, our talented musicians performed beautifully and the MAS band rocked an ACDC track!

On Thursday 12th December we welcomed the older people’s group from St Hilda’s to come into school for afternoon tea. It was really heartwarming to see our young people chatting away and doing activities with our guests and they were happy to give a present to each visitor.

Friday 13th December was packed with festive fun. Year 8 students performed their pantomime, Aladdin to a fantastic audience from Virginia Primary School. That evening Aladdin was performed again by our staff in front of a lively audience of students who bought tickets to come along and laugh!

Our generous students, families and staff raised £3500 for our charities! What a fantastic way to end the term!
