On Wednesday 3rd May 2017, thirty Year 7 students were given an insight into the life of a city professional. The careers event, entitled ‘Be the Best You Can’, was organised by leading education charity Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership and involved volunteers from Barclays and ADM.  The visitors gave the students a presentation on how to plan their careers and they discussed a range of key skills, including presentation, leadership, communication, team work, problem solving and time management.  The visitors explained why these skills were important and how they were used in a work environment. As the students move up to Year 8 next academic year, these early discussions provide them with an opportunity to start to think about career paths and consider their own subject options for future success.

The students and academy received some great feedback from the visitors.  Please find a selection of comments below:

Very well organised by the charity and school. Children were very well behaved and respectful. I think the session was useful for all involved.

Very interesting event. Students were engaged and had many ideas. Presentation was good given the short time to prepare. Friendly and helpful staff at school.

Students were very well behaved, bright and eager to learn. Very enjoyable experience.

Good organisation of the event from school reception to drinks and food. Overall great experience!
