Year 10 Residential Trip to Cambridge

Five Year 10 students embarked on a residential trip to Clare College, University of Cambridge between Sunday 24thand Monday 25th September 2017 in order to gain a better understanding of university life and the prospects it brings. The trip enabled students to start considering degree requirements of Russell Group universities, such as Cambridge, that will best suit their GCSE and A level choices.

Students received a tour of Clare College on the first day and a presentation on what next steps to take after A levels. On the second day, students received a subject taster lecture on Plant Sciences and a visit to the University Museum of Classical Archaeology.  It was a fun fact trip where students participated in a range of activities, including a quiz which pitted school vs school  as well as school vs teachers.  One of the best student experiences of the entire trip was the opportunity to stay the night in residential halls.

The academy looks forward to providing students with other high quality enrichment opportunities throughout the academic year.

“I enjoyed and utilised my unique experience by learning how committed, independent you need to be in order to achieve your goals.”

“I would recommend this trip to everyone as it would be a great opportunity to get a head start into life at university and see the possible challenges that are to come.”
