Y12 Business BTEC Work Experience
From 20th Feb – 3rd March all students within the Business BTEC qualification completed work experience placements at organisations they managed to secure themselves. Some of the placement highlights were Elijah Marshall who managed to secure a placement at Goldman Sachs and Yeasin Zaman who completed his work experience at the Houses of Parliament. It was overwhelming the amount of positive feedback that was received about students across the two weeks. Many of the students have been offered opportunities to return to the organisation or been provided with excellent references.
Senay Kasapoglu
Placement: Get Along playgroup
The two weeks of my work experience was very fun and active, yet very tiring. I would arrive at 8:50-55am and have to contribute to free play, circle time and outdoor play activities. The day also consisted of trying to give the children lunch. From these two weeks I have learnt how to interact with children in a professional manner. It also made me want to go in to child psychology, because I received advice on the courses by members of staff who are/have studied the course.

Placement: First Love Foundation
What I learnt at First Love is that I need to own my space and not be afraid of anything. I also learnt that my voice can be heard because at a design meeting my ideas were taken seriously and it was taken to the extent to where I didn’t expect. The team at the organisation (including the CEO) thanked me a lot and I was very pleased and I felt appreciated. This second placement has definitely helped me decide what I want to do in the future and this work experience placement at First Love Foundation is unquestionably worthwhile.

Placement: Houses of Parliament
Within the work experience I was given the opportunity to try typing up reports, which I found very difficult but enjoyable while also gaining very good experience. The environment where I worked I met the most wonderful people who I have ever met in my life. I believe the kindness they showed me allowed me to feel more relaxed and less nervous when going into Parliament every day. Every day was amazing, but it also gave me the best experience possible.
