Explorer Ben Saunders visits MAS

On Tuesday 8th May, Sixth Form and Duke of Edinburgh students were lucky to have Ben Saunders visit the academy and speak to them about his many expeditions around the world. As a record beating British polar explorer, endurance athlete, and motivational speaker he beguiled them with stories of surviving in the world’s most hostile places. From the difficulties of going to the toilet when its -48C, his posh pot noodles packing in over 6000 calories a day to scaring of 1,000kg polar bears, his story is quite unique.  As remarkable as Ben’s feats might be, they still resonated strongly with our students story. That is the story and importance of resilience; that no success is without failure along the way and whether it is your GCSEs or a solo trek across the Antarctic, one must never give up to achieve one’s goal.

MAS salutes you Ben!
