Count on Us Maths Challenge – London Semi-Finals Update
Following on from the success of the Count on Us Maths Challenge competition held in March 2017 (see http://www.mulberryacademyshoreditch.org/we-are-the-champions/), Year 8 and Year 9 students took part in the next stage of the competition. The London semi-finals event was held at City Hall on Thursday 15th June 2017. Students competed in 4 rounds. First was a competitive game of Hex, then they competed in a geometric reasoning challenge. In the third round they competed individually in rounds of the game 24 before finally taking part in a code breaking algebra round where their ability to deploy a Caesar cipher was tested.
Once again, the students demonstrated that their mental arithmetic and problem solving skills were a force to be reckoned with by successfully making it through to the finals on 4th July.
