On Thursday 27th April, Year 13 sociology students took part in an A Level examination booster workshop at the Vue Cinema in Westfield Stratford.  The event developed and deepened the students’ knowledge in the subject and provided students with useful revision, planning and study skills techniques that will help prepare them for the challenging examination ahead.

“The most useful part of the workshop was the activity on decoding an item by listing the concept, theorist and alternative views as this will help me plan my essays. As well as this the activity on essay writing and especially the part on evaluation needing to be explicit to the theory rather than juxtapose it was also very helpful. The booklet that we received is a very valuable resource as it contains practice questions, responses and exam tips.” Taznim

“The most useful part of the trip was when they pointed out some of the key points in an essay which they examiners are look for. From now on, I probably will focus on my introduction to an essay to actually try and look for some marks rather than writing it for the sake of writing it. I will also try to construct a better criticism for both a 10 marker and the long essays. The resources were very useful because it contained model answers to possible questions as well as examiners tips.” Savio

“The most useful aspect of the trip was the way they explained what the examiners wanted from each question. I will now start using the item in my exams rather than just mention it in passing.” Rejanur

“I found the revision tips and 10 marker exercise more useful because it breaks down how to properly answer the questions. The resource was really useful as it has practice questions to work on, to help with revision and it also provided a framework for answering the questions generally.” Memunat

All the students thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  A huge thank you to Mrs Nwankwo for arranging the trip.
