The Sunday Times Female Lead event

On Sunday 19th November, MAS was delighted to attend the Sunday Times event on women in leadership along with Divine Raji (Year 8), Umayya Rahman (Year 8) and Umayya’s Mum, Rita Bashar.

The event was an opportunity to inspire girls and women by introducing them to female role models from the worlds of music, science, business, activism and journalism discussing their experiences of forging a professional path. The panel answered questions on the challenges they have faced and shared their tips on how to assume a leadership role irrespective of gender, ethnicity or background.

It was a glamourous event with stunning views of the city, goodie bags from The Sunday Times, canopies and drinks. The girls even had copies of their book ‘The Female Lead’ signed by several of the role models who spoke at the event.

‘Inspirational, motivational and heartfelt are three words I would use to describe that evening. My heart filled with sheer determination to achieve my goals, which I once thought would be almost impossible to make happen. Ambitious women discussed topics like fear of failing (which we can all relate to) and gave us a solution to it. That day, I was full of happiness and delicious food! I will never forget that fabulous evening.’
