On Wednesday 25th April, Radio 1’s Newsbeat reporter, Nesta McGregor, visited MAS to speak to students about his journey at the BBC. Mr McGregor explained why he stopped training to be an electrician and decide instead to pursue a career as a journalist by embarking on the corporation’s journalist apprenticeship programme. He shared why he felt he had one of the best jobs in the world at the BBC and encouraged the academy’s young people that are interested in journalism or entertainment, to research and apply for jobs with the famous institution.  Mr McGregor also told students that being resilient is important and to never accept no for an answer if you want to achieve your goal.

Mr McGregor is planning to arrange a tour and a one day work shadowing experience for a Year 12 student who showed interest in Music Journalism at the BBC.
