NCS inspire students to take social action!

On Wednesday 3rd October, students in Year 11-Year 13 met with the National Citizen Service (NCS), an organisation the academy have worked with for several years now.  Our strong partnership with the NCS goes from strength to strength and students were delighted to hear all about their October residential programme. The programme involves three phrases; adventure, discovery and action, in which students are involved in a social action project that they are passionate about. Several of our students have attended the summer residential previously and many have now applied to take part in the October residential this year aimed specifically at Year 12 students.

The NCS also ran a social action workshop with Year 12 students. They conducted activities with the students that enabled them to consider their own communities and social issues that affect them directly. Students then designed their own social action projects in groups, some aimed at fighting racism and islamophobia.
