MAS Taekwondo Team retain first place title

The Mulberry Academy Shoreditch Taekwondo Championships are hosted annually by MAS and Hadri Taekwondo Academy to promote Taekwondo, sport and healthy living within the local community. HTA have been teaching classes at the academy for four years and have put together a MAS team that enters the championship event each year. Clubs and schools throughout London are invited to participate in an amazing day of sport sparring (Kyrugi in Korean) and technical forms (Poomsae) during the competition.

Events got off to a fantastic start, with MAS students Edan and Thomas representing the 4-6 year-old category. These youngsters are definitely future champions-in-the-making! Next up were the 7-9 year old students representing the MAS team. The players lived up to expectations, comfortably winning their preliminary rounds, working their way towards the finals. MAS fought strongly securing 4 of the 5 Gold’s available in the category.

Finally came the Junior and Senior students. In the -68 Kg finals the MAS team was represented by Christopher Comiskey-Erazo, a MAS Sixth Form student. Chris took his time to get a feel for his opponent and in the second round he was in the lead and feeling confident. He won the match and took home a Gold Medal.

MAS’s Taekwondo team was led by Head Instructor Master Esrar of HTA.  Once again MAS came 1st place overall and retain the winner’s title.

Well done to all students who participated and a huge thank you to all parents/carers for their support and dedication.
