MAS student’s commitment to mentoring leads to trip to New Orleans

Year 9 student Taiyakah Greenidge has been invited by the charity 100 Black Men of London to attend a prestigious conference in New Orleans in recognition of her excellent progression as a mentee on their Community Mentoring Programme.  Taiyakah’s dedication and commitment over 5 years led to the charity’s decision to choose her and only one other young person to represent its work at the Annual 100 Black Men of America Conference, which is being held on 7th – 11th June 2017.

The conference is a fantastic opportunity for Taiyakah’s  personal development , as it will involve her meeting and interacting with hundreds of other mentees and thousands of members of the 108 other Chapters of the 100 Black Men global organisation.  As an ambassador of the London Chapter, Taiyakah will also be able to participate in the numerous life–skills training workshops, gala events, and work towards a presentation at the Report from our Youth Breakfast, as well as travelling to see some of the cultural sights of New Orleans.

The entire cost of the trip is being funded by the charity and the academy is delighted to support such an amazing opportunity for one of its students.  We look forward to Taiyakah sharing her experiences with students and staff on her return.
