On Wednesday 19th April, eight Year 10 students took part in the final Debate Mate Cup 2017 at London Metropolitan University in Islington. The one day debating tournament was against students from schools all over London. MAS students won several debates and debated maturely, professionally and displayed their oracy skills very well. The topics included banning music videos which glorify crime and whether we should be spending money on space exploration.

Our students were opinionated, passionate and very well prepared with their research.  They were able to develop and finesse their debating skills, their ability to present and argue with logic, reason and conviction. They also developed resilience and social skills by competing with students from Year 7 to 10 from schools across the city.
